This is a replica of a talismanic medieval magic ring from the 1400s. The ring is made of 9k gold and is set with a sapphire cut into the earliest style of gem faceting; the point cut.

In medieval times, sapphire was considered a stone that brought the wearer protection against the evil eye, plague, and pestilence, among other things. It was also a divine stone that was associated with heavenly power. In this particular ring, the protection of the sapphire was combined with magical symbols that acted as a spell of protection. The characters in this ring have been replicated exactly from the original 15th century ring.
